Sue Baker-Maher 2Reverend Sue Baker-Maher

My approach to ministry is rooted in a desire to discover where God is already at work--and to join in, whilst trying not to get in the way! I have an eclectic approach to worship and like to explore different styles. In today's world it's important to be open to new ways of 'being church,' while also valuing each community's unique expression of God's love, whether traditional or not. I believe that often "less is more"--that it is better to do a few things well than many things poorly--though, like many in ministry, I admit this can be hard to live out in practice!

Before entering ministry, I had a dynamic career in the charity sector. I began working with people affected by drug and alcohol misuse before moving into management roles, and later became a consultant specialising in organisational review, turnaround, and strategic planning. I have also served as a board member for several charities and public sector organisations.

I'm a strong advocate of lifelong learning, holding both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Theology, as well as an MA in Business and Public Sector Strategy. I'm enthusiastic about ecumenical work and keen to explore interfaith relations further.

Outside ministry, I enjoy playing badminton, dancing, and (with some relief!) have recently returned to running--well, jogging, but it still counts! My husband Danny and I often spend our holidays walking various routes of the Camino de Santiago, or visiting family in the UK and Ireland. Together we have two grown-up children.

Alan Ball profile pictureAlan Ball, Manager of the Centres.

Alan joined Trinity United Church in 2021, bringing with him over 30 years of experience as a full-time professional youth worker.

His deep commitment to faith, community, and social justice continues to shape his work and relationships within the church.

A lifelong Christian, Alan is also a passionate worship and folk musician. He sings and plays guitar, blues harmonica, and a variety of percussion instruments, often contributing to the musical life of the church.

Alan and his wife, Angela, have been married for over three decades and are proud parents of three grown-up children.

In 2021, Alan became a grandfather for the first time—a milestone that still brings him great joy.

He is especially dedicated to strengthening the church’s role in the wider community, with a particular focus on faith-building initiatives and social action projects such as the local foodbank.

Alan is always keen to explore new ways of connecting Trinity with the people of Ringwood and beyond.

If you have an idea for a community partnership or would like to get involved, Alan would be delighted to hear from you.
